Blog Reactions After Amazin's Win [J. Mark English]

The Mets snapped their losing streak last night behind a brilliant pitching performance of Oliver Perez. Roger Clemens took his first loss, although he did very well in a 2-0 pitching duel. Jose Reyes was the catalyst behind the Mets win, including a monster home run into the right field upper deck.

Here are some reactions from both a Mets blog, and a Yankees blog:

...maybe the bright lights of a big series is what the Mets needed to play some crisp baseball, especially defensively...

...give a game ball to reyes, who was 3-for-3 with a home run, 2 rbi and 3 stolen bases...

...give another game ball to Carlos Gomez for a ridunculous Endy Chavez-esque catch between the outstretched arms of yankee fans to take away a home run from Miguel Cairo and throw a strike to second to peg Hideki Matsui at second for an inning-ending double play...

...the effectively wild Oliver Perez did a terrific job settling down after the third inning, compiling 13 straight outs before exiting in the eighth inning... - Metsblog

--------

Oliver Perez was what baseball people call 'effectively wild.' The Yankees did him favor after favor, swinging at pitches out of the zone.

Clemens pitched even better than his first time out, going 6.1 innings allowing just two runs, but the bats went to sleep.

Winning streak over at nine. Tomorrow's an important game.

The rookie T-Clip vs. the 295 game winner Tom Glavine. The Yanks have to win to have a chance to take the series. -
New York Yankees, etc.
